The Book Nook
A book club for kids ages 8-12 years old to gather and discuss their favorite books!
Unlock Imagination Through Reading
Does the thought of a good book spark memories of a childhood full of curling up on a comfy couch to explore vast new worlds or staying up past bedtime, flashlight in hand, with your eyes glued to each page in anticipation for what’s to come?
Reading for many is a key to unlimited imagination and creativity. Not to mention increased reading and comprehension skills are foundational in a high quality education.
But a healthy love for reading has to start somewhere...
Give your child (ages 8-12) the wonderful gift of a positive, safe, and encouraging space to deepen their love of reading by enrolling them in our book club! When your child participates in our book club, they will read one book every month and have a chance to discuss their favorite parts with like minded friends their age.
What Joining Our Book Club Can Do For Your Child?
-
Encourages Community And Teamwork
As your child opens up and shares their views around the discussion questions with the group, your child will learn how to have thoughtful conversations and discuss differing opinions respectfully. They will learn how to work through a topic as a team and build a tight-knit community with the kids around them. They will also have the wonderful opportunity to connect with kids their age and create lifelong friendships.
-
Builds Reading Comprehension
Having strong reading comprehension skills can not only deepen the satisfaction you receive from reading a book, but it enriches every other aspect of a students educational, personal, and professional life as they grow up. Give your child the foundational skills to learn with more ease, perform better in school, and feel a stronger sense of accomplishment.
-
Nurtures A Love Of Reading
Reading is an incredibly fulfilling hobby that your child can keep up throughout their life. When you encourage reading in a fun and rewarding way, like through a book club, you can introduce reading as an activity that a child can genuinely enjoy on their own. As a pastime, it’s a fantastic way to tap into your creativity, reduce stress, continue learning, and keep the brain sharp.
-
Provides Accountability
As a part of our book club, your child will be expected to read one book a month and show that they took the time to understand what they read on a deeper level. Your child can learn that they will be held accountable in many aspects of their lives–even outside of school. Learning how to take accountability can help them learn to achieve goals, organize their time, and complete tasks they commit to.
How Our Book Club Works
One
Each month, we vote as a group on our latest read.
Two
Once a book has been chosen, you’ll receive a link where you can purchase it.
Three
Your child will read the book of the month and prepare to discuss what they read.
Four
We meet via Zoom on a date decided at the beginning of each month to get together and chat about our latest literary masterpiece.
“I have and absolutely would continue to highly recommend her to other families.”
Over the pandemic, some of my children have joined the Fox Den book club. They have not only enjoyed bonding over their love of books but also have been challenged by Alyssa to expand beyond their comfort zone in terms of reading level and topic. I have and absolutely would continue to highly recommend her to other families.
